The number of Boxers we save depends upon the wonderful rescue volunteers willing to bring these precious dogs into their homes.  Becoming a foster home takes dedication, love and a commitment to helping the Boxer become the best dog that it can be. We have no way of knowing how long you might have a foster Boxer in your home. It depends on the needs of the particular dog and the availability of adoptive homes. What we can say is that it's a very rewarding way to help this wonderful breed.
Fostering is not a way to get a free dog, not a trial period before adoption, and it certainly isn't easy. It can be stressful as many of these dogs are untrained. In addition to feeding, grooming and exercise the foster home is responsible for house training; crate training; correcting problems such as jumping, chewing, dashing through doors, etc.; socialization and plenty of playtime and attention. Fostering allows a dog to become adapted to home life; therefore, giving them a greater chance of remaining permanently in an adoptive home. Foster homes are required to have a wire crate and a fenced yard. Occasionally, the foster family may need to transport the dog to/from vet appointments.

to find a better way,

***UPDATE***FOSTER HOME NEEDED***

Sweet 3-year-old boy. House trained. Good with kids! 

Shelter has provided us with some information on Sox. Great name for this boy who has 4 white socks on his legs. He was at risk in his previous home of being killed and the shelter could not let that happen to this beautiful boy. He has been tested around small children and did well. He is nervous with shelter life (just look at his posture, his eyes, & licking his lips) because of the over-crowding & noise. He has done well around other dogs, but it appears he may be a lady's man, liking the other female dogs at the shelter. He needs to get out of the shelter and into a foster home so he can get up to date on his vetting, learn more of his personality, and be able to let go of some past harsh memories. The sooner, the better to help this boy become his wiggly boxer self again. Message this page with your information or complete the application.

This is a foster failure success story. Katie had just lost her boxer girl Babe and was not looking to adopt until spring but JJ was desperate for a foster and... love happened! He fit into her life like a glove and she decided that he was home forever. Just look at that happy face!

Lulu

Lulu was one of three girls that came in to rescue from the same home. We couldn't keep them together but managed to find great homes for all of them. Lulu's foster was looking for a calm quiet girl who could learn to be a therapy dog. Lulu was just what she needed. She was terribly skinny and has filled out wonderfully with love and TLC!

Rebel

Rebel (the second of the three) is a sweet 2-year-old girl who was confused at all the changes in her life. She was quiet and shy, as an only dog in her first foster, but when they had to leave town she went to a different foster with two dogs and really blossomed. This family fell in love with her and made it official. Happy ever after little Rebel!

This little girl is black & white like a Panda. The third of the three girls who came in to rescue from the same home, she didn't last as long as a foster. Her family knew almost immediately that she was meant to stay forever. She is proud to have a fuzzy kitten as her new best friend. Panda has a full tummy and a warm bed to sleep in every night. Sleep tight sweetie!

FOSTER FAILURE SUCCESS STORY!

Duke
 

Duke was a challenge from day one. Abandoned at a shelter, he was a wild boy who wouldn't let people get near him. Fostered originally by an experienced boxer couple he was in and out of trouble. They really loved him but he was a handful and was labeled aggressive after jumping the fence and chasing a small dog, causing that dog's owner to fall. The powers-that-be declared he had to go. Long-time boxer breeder and show person Val & husband Jeff stepped up to the plate to help tame this wild boy. Duke is reformed! His new best friend is their Frenchie and he will have a happy furever after. Win-Win!
